Coach yourself over the holidays
The holidays are a perfect time to use your coaching skills on yourself! Coaching is a set of skills as much as it’s a way of being, so turn up your Me-Listening, meet yourself where you are and ask really Effective Questions this holiday season.
Here are two of our favourite coaching inspired holiday activities for you to enjoy.
The Wellness Scale
In a world where anxiety, fear, self-doubt and mental illness have become prevalent, what does it mean to be well? What does it mean to be unwell? And what happens when you’re somewhere in the middle and just okay? In order to support ourselves and others who need help, we can use a Wellness Scale. We can place ourselves—and others—on the line.
Progress is a spiral
When we think about any change we want to make in our life, we often create a goal. I want to be more positive... I want to run more frequently... I want to watch less Netflix... The challenge is that when we think about growth and change linearly, it can feel like taking one step forward and three steps back, especially when we're trying to change a habit, and, in my case, one that was tied to my identity.
Top Tips for Finding the Way In
Announcing the theme to our Coaching Day Autumn 2022: Finding the Way In. The name was inspired by one of our Certified Start With Heart facilitators, who shared with us that, prior to learning coaching skills, there were many moments where she felt ill-equipped to have conversations with her colleagues about important and often emotional wellbeing topics and issues. It wasn’t until after she learned coaching skills that she had the tools to confidently find her way into and through a conversation.
