Join our brand-new class: How to Coach Pre-teens (11–15 year-old’s)
As part of our new Live Online Classes, we’ll explore how to use coaching skills with this group of students in the following empowering ways:
1. Enable Critical Thinking
By this age, your students will be able to evaluate options and explore different perspectives. You’ll want to help them develop a strong coach within themselves that asks critical questions and explores the ‘Head’ stage of the Start With Heart model regularly.
2. Give Room for the Emotional Spectrum
Emotional intelligence for this age group is developing at a significant rate, so it’s important to hold the space for their emotions to be felt and expressed. You’ll need to being curious about what they are feeling and allow them to comfortably and confidently bring those emotions into the coaching conversation.
3. Introduce Accountability
Your students will be able to fully embrace the idea of taking responsibility for their actions and the importance of accountability. Get curious about how they want to track their progress or be held responsible for their commitments.
4. Trust the Process
Patience is key, both with yourself and with your students. At this age, they are prone to making mistakes, often saying one thing and doing another. Manage your expectations regarding what things ‘should’ look like, and stay open-minded to what unfolds. Follow them, trust the process and stay flexible.
Please note, these classes will be recorded and shared with attendees.
